West Ham 1 Chelsea 5 | Blues retain unofficial championship

In the opener of the second round of the Premier League, Chelsea mercilessly beat West Ham and retained the Unofficial Football Club Championship. This is the Londoners third consecutive title, after beating PSG in the Final of the Club World Cup and after drawing with Crystal Palace in the first round of the league.

As for the game itself, this was a strong performance from a team that did not have a pre-season. Chelsea fell behind early to a stunning Lucas Paquetá goal, but they responded like champions to thrash West Ham 5-1. The home side’s optimism after Chelsea’s late lineup changes quickly vanished as their defense was ruthlessly exposed. West Ham, who have now conceded eight goals in two games, completely crumbled and look like relegation candidates.

Chelsea have now surpassed Bayern and is tied with Middlesbrough in 19th place in the all-time ranking. The next match for the UFCC will be played on 30 August against Fulham, at Stamford Bridge.
