Unofficial Football Club Championship Update: New Champion Emerges!

Chelsea’s reign as the Unofficial Football Club Champions has come to an end at the hands of Bayern Munich. The London club’s title defence was finally halted after a 3-1 defeat in the first round of the Champions League League Stage, allowing the Bavarians to seize the virtual trophy for themselves.

After retaining the title with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Fulham at Stamford Bridge at the end of August, they tied Brentford in mid-September 2-2. As such, under the rules of the UFCC, the tie was enough to keep the title in their possession.

That match, however, proved to be a bridge too far. A trip to the Allianz Arena led to the end of Chelsea’s streak in the UFCC. With this victory, Bayern Munich are crowned the new Unofficial Football Club Champions, claiming their 45th title in the lineage. Bayern is now sitting in 19th place of the ranking led by Aston Villa with 102 wins. The next challenge for the new champions will be their Bundesliga fixture against Werder Bremen on Friday.
